This silky maple caramel sauce is a decadent treat flavored with and sweetened by maple syrup! Use it to top anything from oatmeal and pancakes to carrot cake and ice cream!

  • 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons heavy cream, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon unsalted butter, room temperature, cubed

  1. In a medium saucepan with a heavy bottom, bring the maple syrup to a boil over medium heat. Allow to simmer until a candy thermometer reaches 230 F.
  2. Remove from the heat and gradually add the cream. Bring back to a boil and cook, while stirring, until smooth. Add the butter and stir until melted. Stir in salt, if using. Transfer to a bowl or jar and let cool completely.
