This cookies and cream recipe reminds me of one of my neighbors growing up. He used to be so excited when my mom bought him some and I totally get why. The combination of ice cream and Oreos makes it so creamy and delicious.

I think this homemade version is even better than store bought. It’s super fresh tasting plus it’s super easy to make with just 3 ingredients and no ice cream maker needed!

    Why We Love This Recipe

    • Oreo cookie ice cream is creamy and sweet just like my cookie dough blizzard recipe.
    • It’s egg-free and made with only 3 ingredients! It’s so easy just like my croissant ice cream sandwiches!
    • Chocolate fans will love this summer dessert. It’s packed with Oreo cookies just like my Oreo donuts and chocolate mousse bars.
    • This Oreo ice cream recipe is made without an ice cream maker.
    • Make this refreshing no bake dessert when it’s too hot to turn the oven on.

    Ingredients

Labeled ingredients needed to make Oreo ice cream laid out on a table.

    Ingredients

    • Heavy cream: Use cold heavy cream or heavy whipping cream. Keep it in the fridge until you are ready to use it. Cold cream whips better.
    • Sweetened condensed milk: You’ll need about 1 can of sweetened condensed milk. If you’re a fan of sweetened condensed milk, try my Condensed Milk Brownies!
    • Oreos: Use 20 regular Oreo cookies. Crush or chop them into crumbs and small pieces.

Please see recipe card below for full list of ingredients and their measurements.

    Substitutions & Variations

    • Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract for extra flavor.
    • Instead of regular Oreos, try a different Oreo flavor.
    • Add chopped nuts for extra crunch and nutty taste.
    • Stir in some fresh fruit like blackberries, raspberries or chopped strawberries for some extra fresh flavor.

    Instructions

Whipped cream in a glass mixing bowl and a mixer.
Whipped cream with sweetened condensed milk being stirred in with a spatula.

Step 1: (See photo 1 above) Whip the heavy whipping cream to medium peaks.

Step 2: (See photo 2 above) Next, fold in the vanilla and sweetened condensed milk.

Oreo crumbs being stirred into a bowl of whipped cream.
A loaf pan with ice cream in it topped with chopped Oreos.

Step 3: (See photo 3 above) Fold in the crushed Oreos.

Step 4: (See photo 4 above) Pour the mixture into a 9×5 inch loaf pan Cover with plastic wrap. Freeze for 4-6 hours or overnight.

    Expert Tips

    • Make sure your heavy cream is cold when you go to whip it. I even like to put my mixer bowl and beaters in the fridge or freezer for about 20 minutes prior to using it. It’s not necessary but it helps since cold cream whips better.
    • Be gentle when folding ingredients in so that you don’t deflate the whipped cream.
    • Put plastic wrap directly on top of the ice cream to prevent freezer burn.
    • Store it in the bottom (or back) of your freezer where the temperature doesn’t fluctuate as much.

    Recipe FAQs

How long does it take to make this ice cream?

You’ll only need about 15 minutes to mix up the ice cream. You’ll need at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the ice cream to freeze.

What’s the difference between churned and no-churn ice cream?

No churn ice cream does not contain eggs. It can be made without an ice cream maker.

How would you describe cookies and cream?

Cookies and cream is a dessert like ice cream, a milkshake or other types of dessert made with chocolate sandwich cookies.

How to store leftover ice cream?

Store Oreo cookies ice cream in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 1 month. Make sure container is tightly sealed. This will prevent freezer burn.

Hi Demi, Unfortunately I haven’t tried this ice cream in an ice cream maker, so I can’t say for sure how it would turn out. I’m sorry…I wish I had a more helpful answer. -Natalie
